    • In Office voting at Pennington County Admin Building Monday - Thursday 7 am - 6 pm

Questions about the Rapid City Election

Who are the candidates running?

We don't know yet. Those interested in running for city council can now pick up election packets. Petitions must be turned in by Tuesday, March 25. The Council positions currently held by incumbents Jesse Ham (Ward 1), Bill Evans (Ward 2), Greg Strommen (Ward 3), Lance Lehmann (Ward 4) and Pat Roseland (Ward 5) will be on the ballot this election cycle.

How do I vote early?
  • Vote by Mail:  Request a ballot by mail by completing this form: Absentee Ballot Application Form. Mail the ballot to Pennington County Auditor, PO Box 6160 Rapid City, SD 57709.

  • You may drop your ballot off in person by returning the ballot to the County Administration Building, 130 Kansas City Street and dropping your ballot into the ballot box in the Auditor's Office.

What time are the polls open?

On election day, June 3, 2025, Rapid City polling locations will be open 7:00 am to 7:00 pm

In addition to voting for candidates at the Federal level, you will also have the opportunity to elect South Dakota state representatives. One senator and two representatives from each district serve as citizen legislators in Pierre. Elevate Rapid City contacted candidates to ask about their campaign platform, policy priorities, and how they plan to support and improve local business economic development.
